Job Description:
A loan officer is responsible for evaluating, approving, and recommending loan applications for individuals and businesses. They work with customers to gather financial information, assess creditworthiness, and determine the appropriate loan product to meet their needs. They also provide guidance and advice to customers on loan options and terms.
Responsibilities:
- Meet with customers to gather financial information and assess creditworthiness
- Evaluate loan applications and make recommendations for approval or denial
- Negotiate loan terms and conditions with customers

- Prepare and present loan applications to underwriting for final approval
- Monitor loan performance and ensure compliance with loan terms
- Build and maintain relationships with customers and referral sources
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a related field (such as banking or finance)
- Strong knowledge of lending products and regulations
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze financial information
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field
- Professional certifications such as the Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) or Certified Residential Mortgage Specialist (CRMS)
- Strong knowledge of underwriting and credit analysis
- Experience with loan origination software and tools
- Strong customer service skills and ability to build relationships with customers and referral sources
